Gro Enterprises Inc. was founded in May 2022. We are dedicated to transforming the construction industry in the Gulf South. We create and install climate-smart building materials and insulation, sourced from plant-based raw materials. Our mission is to offer sustainable, energy-efficient, and disaster-resilient building solutions. Healthier and more resilient buildings are much needed across the Gulf South. We help to build them.
Our Founder
Joel B. Holton is our Founder and CEO. He has over 15 years of experience in the construction and property restoration industry. Joel’s journey began six months before Hurricane Katrina decimated the greater New Orleans area. This thrust him into the world of residential and commercial construction, remediation, and restoration.
“As a Louisiana-licensed home improvement and mold remediation contractor with certifications from the EPA and OSHA, I’ve seen firsthand how extreme weather-related events impact some of our greatest assets – our homes and buildings. I wanted to develop housing and construction materials that would lower energy costs for residents, provide better health outcomes for occupants, and be more resilient to extreme weather events and frequent storms. This led me to create Gro Enterprises Inc. In 2022 I introduced innovative industrial hemp-based building materials to our local housing and construction market”

Our innovative industrial hemp-based building materials are designed to offer superior performance and sustainability. We specialize in products including hemp wood flooring, hempcrete, and hemplime insulation, which replace traditional, less sustainable options like fiberglass insulation.
Our Community Commitment
Based in New Orleans, we focus on serving communities throughout the Greater New Orleans and Gulf South region. Our commitment extends beyond just providing high-quality materials. We aim to address the needs of communities of color that have faced decades of disinvestment, health disparities, and a lack of economic development. By focusing on the burgeoning legal industrial hemp building industry, we create opportunities for these communities. Our resilient housing units are more resistant to moisture, mold, and termites. Additionally, they lower energy costs and improve indoor air quality which is needed in our community.
